Rice Distribution

The main staple in Cambodian’s diet is rice.  DJD works with the local churches to provide rice to families who need food.  A ton of rice consists of 20 bags and costs $700.  A bag is generally split between 3 families, so a ton provides rice 60 families for several months.

In the fall of 2020, DJD provided rice and other foods to 1,158 families who had been affected by severe flooding caused by the rainy season plus several tropical storms.  Due to reduced income due to COVID restrictions families were in need of food support. In June 2021, DJD provided rice to 375 families in 57 locations.  In January 2022, DJD provided rice to 162 families in 25 churches.
